Maurya Empire was the first ancient empire in India which unified the different Indian sub regions and established them as a one state.

- Chandragupta Maurya founded the Maurya Empire with the help of Chanakya. He defeated the king Dhana Nanda and ended the dynasty of Nanda’s. The last emperor of Maurya Empire was Brihadratha.
- Maurya Empire was existed for about 137 years from 322 to 185 BCE.
- Maurya Empire was the largest empire of world at that time. It extended from the Himalayas in the north to the Mahisur and Madras in the south and from Assam in the east to the Balochistan in the west.
- The main religions of that time were Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. The people had the independence of following any religion.
